Medical license to practice in the state of Utah

In order to practice medicine in the state of Utah, you must obtain a medical license from the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL). The application process involves several steps:

  1. Educational Qualifications: A Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from an LCME-accredited school or an ECFMG certification for international graduates.
  2. Postgraduate Training: Completion of a 24-month progressive residency program accredited by ACGME, RCPSC, or CFPC.
  3. Examination: Passing licensing examinations like the USMLE, FLEX, NBME, LMCC, or a combination, with a score of 75% or higher within three attempts.
  4. English Language Proficiency: Ability to coherently write, read, and speak English.
